I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA and also completed a Masters in Practical Theology with specialisation in Pastoral Therapy at UNISA in 2008. My psychotherapeutic experience stretch over more than 20 years of working with individuals and couples in private practice. I only recently (2014) completed my clinical training in Imago Relationship Therapy under the experienced guidance and training of Kobus van der Merwe.
As humans we have been well trained in the skill of “monologue” – when one person is talking but no one is really listening. The Dialogue process which is a tool used in Imago Therapy has opened up a whole new way in my therapeutic approach with couples.
Dialogue is used to teach couples the skill of good and effective listening and it is a structured way to facilitate safety and connection – the two important ingredients that can help couples heal and grow. I am extremely grateful for my continuous exposure to the Imago principles as Imago has certainly enriched my work as a therapist and my personal connections with others and God.
